We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Loanworx Group Licencing Pty Ltd, our licensee, also has its own privacy and credit reporting policy, which we can give you on request.

What information we collect

We only collect the information we need. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:

  • Contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number and address.
  • Financial information if you ask us for help with a loan, such as your income, expenses, assets, debts, employment details and identification documents.
  • Credit information, such as your credit history and credit report, when needed to assess loan options.
  • Property and energy information, such as details about your home, its energy use, your energy bills and any upgrades you're considering.
  • Website information. Our website host may record basic technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we collect it

We usually collect information directly from you, for example when you:

  • sign up to our newsletter or fill in a form on this website
  • book a call, email us, phone us or meet with us
  • fill in a sign-up sheet at an event or expo
  • apply for a loan through us.

With your consent, we may also collect information from others, such as lenders, credit reporting bodies, your employer or your accountant.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • understand your situation and recommend loan and energy upgrade options that suit you
  • prepare and submit loan applications on your behalf
  • meet our legal obligations, including under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 and anti-money laundering laws
  • respond to your enquiries
  • send you our newsletter, if you have subscribed.

If you don't give us the information we need, we may not be able to help you with a loan.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it where needed to help you, or where the law requires it. This may include:

  • lenders and mortgage insurers you choose to apply to
  • our licensee, Loanworx Group Licencing Pty Ltd, and our aggregator, AFG, for compliance and loan processing
  • valuers and other professionals involved in your loan

  • government agencies or regulators, where required by law.

Overseas storage

Some of our service providers, such as MailerLite and Google, may store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information.

Our newsletter and marketing

We only send you our newsletter if you have signed up for it. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us at any time to be removed.

How we keep your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including using secure, password-protected systems. The law requires us to keep some records for up to seven years. After that, we securely destroy or de-identify information we no longer need.
